Rookie rocks Hockenheim

Mitchell Cheah wins Junior Challenge

Talented youngster Mitchell Cheah Min Jie (MAL) won the Honda Junior Challenge in race one of TCR Germany at the Hockenheimring. The Malaysian, at the wheel of the Golf GTI TCR, came home eleventh overall. “That was one of the most difficult races of my career. I am delighted to have been the top junior. It is the reward for the hard work we have put in. We have had big problems up to now, and have not had the pace we needed. In the end, however, it paid off to keep persevering and working hard,” said a happy Cheah.

In race two, the 21-year-old finished ninth overall, earning him third place in the Junior Challenge. Cheah lies fifth in the Junior competition and travels to the final round of this season’s TCR Germany, at the Sachsenring (28th to 29th September), still with a chance of snatching the title. He currently trails leader Michelle Halder (D) by twelve points, with a maximum 21 still up for grabs.
