Volkswagen drivers fight out championship among themselves

Michael Hurczyn (USA) and the Golf GTI TCR are the epitome of consistency in TC America. In the sixth race of the season in Road America (USA) Hurczyn drove to second place in the first race. The sole faster driver was his teammate Nate Vincent (USA), who celebrated his second win of the season on the tradition-steeped track in Wisconsin.

The start of the second race had to be postponed several times due to torrential rain. Eventually, the field, led by pole-setter Hurczyn, started behind the safety car. The overall leader was initially at the front, but locked up in lap two at the end of the start-finish straight. The subsequent fight-back was rewarded with second place. Victor González (PRI, Honda) crossed the finish line first while Vincent was third.

The first title in the newly founded TC America will go to one of the two Volkswagen drivers Hurczyn and Vincent at the season finale on 19 and 20 October at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Before the last two races, in which a maximum of 50 points can be scored, Hurczyn has a 40-point lead ahead of Vincent.
