The stage is set for the rally GTI – the Volkswagen Polo GTI R5. The all-wheel-drive rally car for customer sport, which is based on the sixth-generation Polo, has enjoyed a successful world premiere. All of the experience and expertise gained from the four World Rally Championship titles won between 2013 and 2016 went into developing the new rally sports car. Jan de Jongh, the racing engineer who looked after world champion Sébastien Ogier’s Polo R WRC, is the main project manager responsible for the car, working alongside technical director François-Xavier ‘FX’ Demaison.
