Norges Råeste Bakkeløp
Petter Solberg breaks Oliver Solberg’s hillclimb record
Petter Solberg won the Norges Råeste Bakkeløp, Norway’s most famous hillclimb. The rally legend, at the wheel of the Polo R Supercar, covered the 3.75-kilometre route in 1:37.99 minutes, a whole six seconds faster than his son Oliver Solberg (N), who set the previous record last year. The appearance formed part of Petter Solberg’s farewell tour: He will hang up his helmet at the end of this year. However, he is sure to go head to head with his son at private events like the hillclimb in the future.
Dad was happy after his record-breaking run: “Oliver will have to wake up earlier if he wants to break this record again.” That will not be an easy task: Following Petter Solberg’s record, the layout and length of the route will be changed for future races.
