“Wow” factor in Warsaw: The Solbergs dominate at Gymkhana Grid
An all-Solberg final, thousands of passionate motorsport fans, and a truly spectacular show: Petter Solberg (N) won gold at the Gymkhana Grid in Warsaw – just ahead of his 17-year old son Oliver. This is the third time in a row that the drifting event, at which some obstacles must be negotiated and others touched on a specially-erected circuit, has been won by the Volkswagen Polo R Supercar – the car, with which Petter Solberg’s PSRX team also claimed the titles in the Driver and Team competitions within the FIA World Rallycross Championship (WRX) in 2017 and 2018. Motorsport fans can look forward to a rematch of Solberg 1.0 vs Solberg 2.0: Petter and Oliver will go head to head for the first, and last, time in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) at the Rally Great Britain (03 to 06 October 2019). For Solberg Senior, the rally in Wales forms the end of his farewell tour. Solberg Junior, on the other hand, is making his debut in the World Rally Championship. Both will drive a Polo GTI R5, run by the PSRX team.
