Kajetanowicz fährt in Deutschland aufs Podium

Nächstes Top-Resultat für polnisches Duo im Polo GTI R5

Another top result for duo Kajetan Kajetanowicz and Maciej Szczepaniak (PL/PL) in the FIA World Rally Championship. In the Rally Germany, the three-time European WRC2 rally champion finished in third place – already the third podium finish for the Pole in the current World Championship year. After a restrained start on Friday, Kajetanowicz stepped-up the pace over the course of the rally and set the best time of the class in his Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 on the penultimate special stage, ahead of the works teams from the WRC2 Pro. After a total of 344.04 kilometres, the 40-year-old missed out on victory in the WRC2 by just 21.5 seconds. The winners were local heroes Fabian Kreim and Tobias Braun (D/D, Škoda).

Volkswagen duo Stéphane Lefebvre and Thomas Dubois (F/F) as well as Nicolas Ciamin and Yannick Roche (F/F) had a difficult time. Each had led in the class, but the two French pairings had to end the rally prematurely in the tenth and twelfth special stages respectively after incidents. Until then, a total of nine best times had been recorded. In the overall standings of the WRC2 class, Kajetanowicz improved to fifth, four rounds before the season’s end. The best-placed Volkswagen driver is Ole Christian Veiby (N), who is one place ahead of the Pole and was successful in the Norwegian Rally Championship this weekend.
